3-Day Backpacking Meal Plan

Day 1

Breakfast: instant oats with dried milk and berries. Lunch on trail: flatbread with cheese and salami. Dinner: dehydrated couscous with olive oil, tuna, and sun-dried tomatoes.

Day 2

Breakfast: granola with powdered milk. Lunch: nut butter wraps and apple. Dinner: freeze-dried stew or instant mashed potatoes with dehydrated veg and butter.

Day 3

Breakfast: muesli bar and coffee. Lunch: remaining trail mix and jerky. Dinner: eat in town or at a DNT hut — pack light for the final push.

Gear

  • Lightweight stove and 100g fuel canister for two hot meals per day.
  • Collapsible bowl and long-handled spoon.
  • Zip bags for pre-measured ingredients.
  • Pack 2,500–3,500 kcal per day depending on distance and temperature.
